Tom Cruise sets a Guinness World Record for 16 burning parachute jumps

Tom Cruise has officially set a Guinness World Record by completing 16 burning parachute jumps while filming Mission: Impossible—The Final Reckoning.

Cruise set a record while filming the film's climactic plane sequence, jumping through the air 16 times as his parachute caught fire. Paramount celebrated the achievement by releasing a behind-the-scenes video of the daring stunt in action.

Before one of the jumps, Cruise explained the dangers: "If this is twisted while it's burning, I'll be spinning and burned. I need to kick out of the twist and ignite in 10 seconds. We're going to be very smart. I'm not saying you should take risks. We don't take risks, obviously."

Cruise's latest record is his second. He holds the Guinness World Record for 'Most consecutive $100-million-grossing movies (actor)' from 2012 to 2018.
